This page lists the ARTCC Facilities at vZLC ARTCC (Salt Lake ARTCC) effective January 1, 2008 as per the VATSIM announcement of the new “Global Controller Rating”.

Please check the current ZLC ARTCC roster on the website to make sure that you are currently Facility Certified (FC) or Certified (C) for these positions and have reviewed the most recent position requirements, SOP’s and LOA’s before signing on to control at any of these positions.  Under no circumstances can a STUDENT 1 (S1) be allowed to provide solo radar services to any aircraft.  A current ZLC Instructor/Mentor must be present until you are approved for that specific position.

The Major Airport Facilities at ZLC ARTCC (Salt Lake ARTCC) are:

• All KSLC local control positions but not limited to Clearance Delivery (DEL), Ground Control (GND) and Tower (TWR).

• All sectors of the KSLC TRACON-Approach (APP) and Departure (DEP)

• All sectors of the ZLC Center ARTCC (Salt Lake)

All other Facilities not listed above are considered Minor C/D Airport Facilities.

Our training department will be using Salt Lake City International airspace as your first training location for training of the basic functions of DEL, GND and TWR as identified in the VATUSA Controller Guidelines.  You must have the Student 1 (S1) rating for DEL and GND, pass your OTS to receive your Facility Certified (FC) for these two positions.  You will then move on to the Student 3 (S3) rating and train to work TWR.  Once you pass your Student 3 (S3) written and OTS, you will receive your Facility Certified (FC) for TWR at Salt Lake City International.

After you complete this training for each position and are Facility Certified (FC), you will train to be Certified (C) on DEL, GND and TWR at C/D minor facilities within ZLC ARTCC.  Once completed, you will return to train at the Salt Lake City International TRACON.  Upon completion, you will be Facility Certified (FC).  Then you will be trained at other C/D minor facilities TRACON within the ZLC ARTCC and be Certified (C).

Next is training for Center at ZLC ARTCC.  You will take the Controller 1 (C1) written test successfully.  During your training time on Center, you will be trained to handle traffic into/out of non-towered airports in the ARTCC.  When this stage is completed, you will be Certified (C) for non-towered airports.  When you complete your Center training with an OTS, you will be Facility Certified (FC).
